Event Description: Asthma affects more than 800,000 people in Georgia and as many as 300 million worldwide, with its severity and prevalence continuing to rise. Northside Hospital-Forsyth hopes to help combat these growing numbers with a new monthly adult Asthma Education Class. The class meets the third Wednesday of every month, 6:30-8:00 p.m., in the hospital's Bennett Education Center, Classroom A, 1400 Northside Forsyth Drive, Cumming. The interdisciplinary class is taught by a certified nurse asthma educator, respiratory therapist and pharmacist. Topics covered include: • What is Asthma • Trigger Control • Medications • Proper inhaler and peak flow meter techniques Every participant is assisted in the development of an action plan to manage their asthma and maintain asthma control. Free Peak Flow Meters also are provided to all attendees. A one-time fee of $15 is required. To register for the class, call 770-844-3822.
