Event Description: Gainesville, GA - Cedar Hill Enrichment Center, a center of spirituality, ecology and Earth education, has announced the 2009 Healthy Living Series for upcoming programs. The series is designed to address the needs of the community whether it’s spiritual, financial or health inspired in nature. These workshops will bring enrichment to participants in their every day life. Embracing the locavore movement taking place nationwide, Cedar Hill offers a dinner the third Friday of every month focusing on locally grown and in season products. The locavore movement encourages consumers to buy from farmers’ markets or to produce their own food. Locally grown food is an environmentally friendly means of obtaining food. As people become more conscious of the need to be pro-active in food choices and healthy eating, the “Fried Green Friday” dinners help bring awareness in an intimate, fun setting. The five course meal also features items from the extremely popular vegetarian cookbooks produced by Cedar Hill. Cedar Hill will also participate in a Read & Feed on April 8 through Key Ingredients: America by Food (a Smithsonian exhibit coming to Dahlonega) and featuring the bestseller Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life by Barbara Kingsolver. The April 8 event will include a tour of the gardens, dinner and book discussion. Cedar Hill Enrichment Center is a 501-c-3 nonprofit organization and is not financially supported by any church organization or religious congregation.
