Event Description: First annual Lake Lanier Feather Craft Cruise in. These iconic classic aluminium boats were produced in downtown Atlanta GA FROM 1948 to 1963. They were designed by aircraft engineers. Being built of aluminium, they have lasted to this date with no deteriation, unlike wooden boats. The Feathercraft group is intent on saving these boats from the crushers and recyclers. There is a small fleet of about 10 boats on Lake Lanier now, and growing. We expect to pull boats from GA, NC, TN, KY and SC. This GA has has been added to the growing Feather Craft meets being held around the country including those in SC, TN and TX. We will be meeting at Tidwell Park launching at 10am and will be cruising to Bald Ridge Marina. Othe brands of classic aluminium boats are invited to participate.
