Event Description: The Northeast Georgia Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its 9th Annual Don Gordon Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, August 26th, 2013 at the Polo Golf and Country Club in Cumming. This tournament is the only fundraising event the chapter holds each year. All proceeds of the golf tournament will support the Northeast Georgia Chapter’s humanitarian and disaster service efforts. To make the golf tournament a success, we need the communities support and participation. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds, and provides emotional support to victims of disaster; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; provides international humanitarian aid; and supports military members and their families. The Red Cross is a not-for-profit organization that prevents and alleviates human suffering in face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The Northeast Georgia Chapter provides comfort and support to families affected by disasters, whether fire or weather related, in Dawson, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Hall, Habersham, Lumpkin, Pickens, Rabun, Towns, Union, and White counties. We also provide disaster prevention, preparedness and recovery training in our communities, as well as providing support for other Red Cross services.
