Overview of the Event
The Innovation Management Workshop will be presented by the Georgia Manufacturing Extension Partnership (GaMEP) at Georgia Tech. In addition, experts from Lanier Technical College will speak about innovation and training resources within their institute.
The Innovation Management Workshop will help manufacturing companies put a process around innovation practices. During the event participants will learn how to develop, funnel, and test ideas that are low cost and low risk in order to grow their businesses. Participants will also learn how to sustain an idea pipeline so that Georgia manufacturers can continue this process even during their research and development stages.
During the event experts from The Georgia Institute of Technology's Enterprise Innovation Institute will guide participants through 5 hands-on exercises on the following topics:
- About Innovation – the types, history, and future of managing innovation
- Idea Creation – how to stimulate good ideas
- Idea Definition – how to make the idea clear – identifying the customer, the problem, the promise and the proof
- Idea Discovery – how to conduct rapid weekly and monthly cycles of Plan-Do-Study-Act to identify and eliminate issues that could eliminate a good idea
- How to create a continual cycle of innovation leading to profitable growth by reducing risk and increasing speed to market
Experts from Lanier Technical College will provide participants with information about:
- Georgia Quick Start (Georgia's complimentary workforce training program)
- Customized Training Resources for Manufacturers
- New Continuing Education Programs for Manufacturers
