Event Description: On July 9, 2008, James Soares, father of Cumming resident, Sherri Thornton, was tragically killed along with his wife Marian in Rhode Island. Combining her 30 year passion of barrel racing and the love of her late father, Sherri created the First Annual James Soares Memorial Barrel Race. This is the 4th year of this special event. This 4th Annual inaugural race will take place on Sept 23 & 24, 2011. This event is open to the public and will start at 9:00am with the exhibition. A dedication will begin at noon with the show to follow. Competitors from all over Georgia are expected. Regardless of whether individuals are interested in competing or would like to come as a spectator, all are welcome. It promises to be a fun filled day with fast horses, good food and a family environment for everyone to enjoy. EVENT SPECIFICS: • 4-D Barrel Race • Competitor Fees: o $30 – Entry Fee o $5 – Arena Fee o $5 – Exhibition Fee • Grand Prize: o 1,500.00 added money with 80% Payback. • Spectators attend for free.
