The Alliance was created by proceeds from the sale of the Sawnee Arts Center .  These funds have been placed in an endowment with the North Georgia Community Foundation.  A local Board of Directors, representing business and community leadership, is responsible for stewardship and making recommendations for any distribution of funds.

$50,000 for operational and special project funds in support of arts that benefit Forsyth County residents are available for 2011 through the Forsyth County Arts Alliance. Nonprofit and governmental organizations that “enrich the quality of life in Cumming- Forsyth County by connecting people to the arts” are encouraged to apply. Applications for funding are due on May 27 2011, with funds available in July, 2011.

The Alliance will provide a free workshop with further instructions on applying for these funds and for other grant funding in the arts:
