Definitely recommend Bear Mountain Painting!
From the very start they were not only professional but helpful in each step of the process.
The staff was always responsive and took time to answer questions and go over the project in detail. They were always friendly and took the time to really make you feel like your satisfaction was most important. The advice and suggestions they gave were based on what would fit OUR family's needs and vision.
Savannah was not just friendly but was super knowledgeable and was always there to help us understand when we had questions.
100% recommend them and their team!

Exterior paint job was great. Interior, not great. Poor paint edges, splattering everywhere. They replaced some drywall and the spackling around the edges looks like my child did it. Hired someone else to fix it all and now it's stunning. I can only recommend them for outside work.

Bear Mountain's response couldn't be farther from the truth. We were contacted about a late payment because we weren't aware of it being a contract. The email clearly says "quote," which is kind of misleading.

It’s unfortunate we couldn’t please this Client after we made very generous accommodations. This Client didn’t inform us of any changes or mention cancellation until after we inquired about their late payment and insinuated that they were unaware they signed a legally binding contract – this couldn’t be farther from the truth as they had discussed their contract with our staff prior to this accusation. It appears that our generosity was not appreciated and created a heavy bias toward our company, but we are glad to hear they are happy with their project results. Bear Mountain is very straightforward in all of our dealings, we wish this Client the best with future home improvement projects as we will not be a good fit.

We moved into our house in July 2022 and had a to-do list of multiple projects on the exterior of the house, including a deck replacement (and upgrades), gutters, exterior paint, etc. We searched for reputable companies and had four quotes for the deck. Bear Mountain provided quotes for all projects and presented them to me verbally (and through email) as quotes. The total cost of the work was around $38,000. Through a DocuSign-type system, I signed the quotes quickly without reviewing them in detail as they were described to "lock in the price." I admit to not thoroughly reading the terms and conditions and the paperwork to see that I entered into a contract. After getting frustrated about the beginning stages of the project, including what I felt was a lack of communication, Bear Mountain representatives were unable to explain what the final structure would look like, consistent misrepresentation (representative consistently forgot details about the project), or failure to understand the details of my project; we decided to go with a different contractor. I was later contacted by Bear Mountain asking for a deposit and let them know we'd be going a different route; however, we would keep them in mind for painting the house when ready. I was then informed that they would collect either a 20% cancellation fee or apply the deposit to other scopes of work.
Bear Mountain had not started work, scheduled work, ordered material, or incurred any costs other than what is assumed to be the project's minimal administration and sales portion (developing a scope). I felt tricked (misrepresentation of a quote that turned into a contract) and pressured (late-night texts from the sales representative and multiple phone calls) into signing what I thought was a quote. I was then faced with either a legal battle, in which the Company was prepared to bring a suit against me and recover money from me for work not completed, pay them off (terminate the contract), or have them (assumed subcontractor) conduct work that I didn't feel confident that I'd be happy with. Without the patience, energy, or additional financial resources to engage an attorney and incur fees, I agreed to apply the 20% cancellation fee to exterior paint, siding/rot remediation, and gutters.
The Project Manager was not communicative on details and did not conduct an initial project overview; scheduling was expedited and moved up a day without going over the project details. The Project Manager explained that he is running up to 10 crews and "it is impossible to be present once a day." During the project, an additional ~$2,800 in missed remediation was incurred. The Project Manager kept repeating, "We don't typically include this in our work," indicating that it was normal for them not to remove gutter hardware when the gutter system was being replaced.
After the project was largely completed, the Company demanded payment immediately and said they wouldn't be able to pay "their" crew until after I completed payment; we hadn't even done a walkthrough with the project manager at this point. Further, they said they would not conduct any touch-ups until I paid them. Upon a walk-through with the project manager, it was discovered that "their" crews are subcontractors. Bear Mountain seems structured as a Project Management Company taking a percentage off the top before paying the subcontractor.
I advise going with a company that actually does the work and saving on the headaches of dealing with a middleman company that missed eye-level remediation items and had poor communication/presence. If you decide to use Bear Mountain, be advised that quotes are contracts and ask questions/encourage them to include specific language about your project to avoid additional fees. - Saravanan S.Roswell, GA01Aug 4, 2023
Subject: Unpleasant Experience with Bear Mountain Painting Company
I am writing to share my recent experience with Bear Mountain Painting Company, and unfortunately, it has been quite disappointing.
When I initially contacted the company to inquire about deck stain and rotten wood replacement, they sent their Sales representative, Devin, to assess the situation. During the survey, I expressed that I wasn't certain about the extent of wood replacement required, but I wanted all the rotten wood to be replaced and the deck to be stained.
Devin later stated that 18 pieces of wood needed replacement, and I agreed to move forward with the project. However, on the day of the work, I was shocked when Riley, the project in-charge, informed me that they had only accounted for 11 pieces in the quote. He claimed that they found an additional 16 pieces of rotten wood that required replacement.
This inconsistency in the initial quote raised concerns for me. It made me question whether Bear Mountain Painting has a lack of accurate estimations or if they intentionally provide lower quotes initially to lure customers in, only to charge more later on.
When I reached out to Zach for clarification and resolution, I felt that my concerns were not adequately addressed, leaving me feeling frustrated with the overall experience. As a result, I am determined not to work with Bear Mountain Painting Company again in the future.
I believe clear communication and accurate estimates are essential in any business transaction, and unfortunately, my experience with Bear Mountain Painting did not meet these expectations.
Thank you for taking the time to read about my experience. I hope that sharing this feedback will help improve their services and prevent similar issues from arising with other customers.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Unfortunately, we are not surprised to see this review - as this Client threatened to leave negative reviews multiple times throughout the project as a negotiating tool for free / discounted work. This Client also became extremely upset and cursed at our employees when told there was additional rotted wood found after the 2nd inspection. Our Sales Consultants find more rotted wood than competing companies - however they are only able to quote rotted wood that they are able to identify from the ground level. Our crews then do a secondary inspection once the job starts to ensure that Clients have the opportunity to replace rotted wood unseen – this is completely optional. We are a straightforward company and to be accused of "bait-and-switch" tactics is insulting to say the least. Ultimately this Client refused to replace the additional rotted wood and we completed what was contractually agreed upon. We feel that we are not a good fit for this Client, but we sincerely wish them the best of luck with their future projects.

We started using Bear Mountain years ago. Last time their crew was here they got paint on a shade and instead of telling me about it they turned it around. Quite frankly, I had no time to deal with this matter. They reallllllly push for those Google Reviews. The last time they did an amazing job on my basement and Christian did it. I obviously got lucky. I noticed Nick keeps saying he looks for people in his database and they are not there when they leave an unhappy review. Maybe he needs a new database.
No one ever followed up about the shade by the way and I am a busy person that doesn't want another problem. So, it's still there and I can see the paint. I guess I am now the one throwing shade. Yes, this review is real. Better things to do than write fake reviews. Thought I would leave this right here as I am now pricing the exterior of my home.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Business owner information

Bear mountain custom painting is the worst painting company I've ever dealt with. They will not warranty their work. They will not return phone calls. They won't negotiate on anything. Sure they'll come off super nice in the beginning making you think they will be there for you but, after they get your money, you become yesterdays' news to them. It's no wonder they have so many other low star ratings on Yelp.

We performed a thorough warranty inspection regarding this Client’s concern. It was determined that the peeling paint was due to a third-party coating failure, and the situation was explained to the Client. In addition, we offered to remedy the issue at a discounted cost, which was ultimately rejected by the Client. We feel Bear Mountain is not the best fit for this Client, and we wish them the best of luck with their future projects.

I am a homeowner and DIYer of over 25 years. They painted the trim on our new house in the spring of 2022. The paint on the front door and trim around the garage doors began to bubble in less than a year. When they repainted the door it looked like something on a haunted house. It looked old and painted over. They used way too much paint and didn't clean up. They painted the door a third time with the same result. They painted the door a fourth time, which was much better, but we don't want anything to do with them again. I can already see paint fading on the trim near the roof one year later after the initial paint job. When they repainted the garage door trim, the worker showed me where there was no primer underneath the paint. I was told the first time that they would use primer if there weren't any from the builder. That worker demonstrated that they did not, as they were the ones to paint it last. I doubt they used primer the second time - I wasn't watching.
The fourth time they painted the door, they painted the interior because the third job had made a mess. They used a can of paint they found in my garage without asking. It didn't match. They tried to tell me the paint around the door and the rest of the room didn't match because it faded. (It's only four years old;)
They told me sunlight made the door and door hardware fade. It had been a year but the issue was bubbling paint and an extraordinary sloppy paint job. Twice. There was no fading and I never mentioned fading. They were upset we said the door hardware was ruined from them painting on it and tried to charge us to fix it.
Ernesto asked if I wanted the truth or a lie when I asked how the 4th time turned out so well. He said the other two times, the crew was not as detail oriented as the last crew. They knew this when they assigned them to work on our door. Twice.
The original job and each redo was subpar. I was offered excuses that only an idiot would agree with. Now they "offered" to help with the door hardware by charging me more money.
They will not touch our house again. We will not be paying for anymore of their services. We will never recommend this company.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

This review contains many falsities. We did not paint this door 4 times. The door was previously painted (by a third party), and had many imperfections, and lacked proper preparation. We contracted to repaint the door, not chemically strip or sand the entirety of the slab. We did return to perform touch up painting. The photos attached to this review are from the initial phase, and highlight the plastic trim that was damaged by a previous third party. We feel it will be best for this Client to hire a different contractor in the future, and we wish him the best of luck.

The salesman was great, but thats it.
Company canceled first appointment.
They showed up for 2nd appointment and did the job.
I was told to keep cars off for 2 days.
On the 3rd day while dollying my fridge the floors finish came off.
4th day after moving cars out dull spots where the tires where.
Called and was told they would be out next week to touch up.
They never showed to service the floors. Been 2 weeks.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1Business owner information

There was an initial scheduling miscommunication / misunderstanding. The touch ups were completed, and this Client is satisfied with the work.

I had some work done by them. It turned out they were extremely unprofessional and did work that looked like a kid did it. It was HORRIBLE! They painted my house with paint that did not match in color and also did work where they left my door on shed unable to close and the work they did on the shed had the boards uneven. After multiple calls to try to get them to correct it the company finally sent someone down on a day I was in vacation and we had a date set when I was returning. They totally ignored the date I set up and came when I was in vacation. I called and reminded them the day they were suppose to come. Later I get flooded with calls and emails from an angry worker saying he spent gas coming to repair it when if they were more organized they would have looked to see what day I set up. This worker seemed to have anger issues!! I'm begging you don't be mislead with this company. They come off as legitimate and a good company but you will see once they get your money you are out of luck. They sure tricked me! I only wish I would have came to Yelp and read the reviews and maybe I would have been spared. If you read the replies to their customers after they finish the job sloppy is very telling. They are condescending and do not have the attitude of wanting to correct the work or please the customer after they complain. The whole ordeal was stressful and all I wanted was the company to come and fix their shoddy work. I had to get another company who was honest and had integrity to come and correct the horrible mess they left. Which was more money! Pass this company by and find another one unless you like stress and spending more money to fix their mistakes!!!!

Unfortunately, this Client was very difficult to work for and quite unreasonable. There were some simple touch ups to be completed, and she refused to coordinate a proper time for us to return. We wish this Client the best of luck with her future projects.

Wrong Nick. Is it not your practice to have all the materials to complete a job before committing to doing the work and saying you can complete it? If you couldn't get matching doors then you don't take the job. It's good to know you think that's not your fault and that you try to install different doors in an attempt to get over on your customer. Would you accept mismatched doors in your home? I never canceled. I have all the text messages of Andres cancelling on me over and over again. I can post those as well if you like but you'll be seeing those soon. I was postponing the sale of my home for your work to be completed which you never did.

This client essentially cancelled the remaining work which was installing some doors that were then found out to be discontinued (out of our control). We offered several alternatives that were basically an upgrade which the client refused due to minor differences. After extensive searching, we located 2 of the discontinued doors in another state, and drove 8 hours roundtrip to get them for this project. After we had successfully picked up the doors, the client became very unavailable during the scheduling process. After many scheduling attempts, the client then stated the doors were no longer wanted due to selling the home then shorted us the payment. Ultimately, after we were unsuccessful resolving this matter with the client directly, we executed our contract to collect payment due. We wish this client the best of luck moving forward with future home improvement projects.
Jul 9, 2021Previous reviewAs an update to my ongoing issues with Bear Mountain they put a FALSE LIEN on my home which is referred to as SLANDER OF TITLE. It's July and they still have not completed the work that I've been asking for since November 2020. For months they made appointments with me to install doors and would cancel on me the day before (all of which I have documented via text messages and email since I refused to speak to him on the phone). In the end they have never produced the doors and I had to put my house for sale. Rob Kozuch has demanded 100% of the money even though 100% of the work wasn't done. The lien he put on my house said that the work was completed on January 30th yet he didn't even order the correct doors until February but never installed them. DO NOT HIRE this company. They also tried to get me to sign a document so that I wouldn't tell anyone about this.
Apr 16, 2021Previous reviewI wanted to update my review below from February. It's now the middle of April and my job is still incomplete. They haven't been able to install 8 doors in 5 months!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
Feb 19, 2021Previous reviewI was referred to Bear Mountain by my parents who had some exterior painting done to their home and they had a good experience. I contacted BMCP back in October 2020 and they told me they wouldn't be able to start for 6 weeks or so and I said that was ok. They finally started my project on January 15th and it's still not complete on February 19th. My project included installing 8 interior doors and two small walls of shiplap. The doors are the cheapest ones on the market and have rough edges so be aware of that if you are requesting doors. They told me they could sand them down which only makes them slightly less rough than they were originally. Two of the doors are a different style then all of the others. They went ahead and installed them (without my consent) and painted them and then left for the day. When I went up to check out the work I saw that the doors don't match the others installed and the company has never been back and they've never offered to fix the situation. If they can't complete the job they need to adjust the invoice which they haven't done either. Also be aware that they don't spray the doors...they hand paint them. They also told me that they install the door knobs but when it came time to install them they all of a sudden don't do that. They tried to get me to make the final payment but thank goodness I didn't. They moved on to their next job and I haven't heard from them since.
